Collect now, curate later

On figuring out what should belong and what shouldn’t

Collection and curation are discrete mental modes.

They should be done at different times.

It’s difficult to do both at the same time because curation requires detachment and perspective that’s rarely attainable in the present moment.

In order to gain a sense of that which should belong, we have to live with the collection long enough to know which of it doesn’t. 

Collect now, curate later.
