Get comfortable living in the gray

On the relationship between rebellion and freedom

The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.

Camus

If you want to be free, you have to get comfortable living in the gray.

The systems and structures that surround your life are meticulously designed by others to ensure their own freedom at your own expense.

Achieving freedom for yourself often requires, not a breaking of the rules or the system, but a bending of them. You have to press back against the forces that are pressing you to conform just to stay afloat. You have to push harder than they do if you ever hope to see daylight.

So push with all the tact and courage you’ve got.
