You? Me? We?

ocean so deep
it feels like someone else
murmurs from the depths
pierced by blinding rays
is it you? me? we?

sentient saline
we’re all just churning
catching currents
trying our best
not to drown in ourselves

it feels like us, if you let it
but deep down
i know it’s just me
a flash
in the infinite middle
an ember
drifting across this ancient ocean

it’s peaceful here knowing
you’re not out there
craving to be known
